Markets in the area
Well worthwhile for the lovers of the real France are the local markets in and around Aubeterre.
Sunday morning: cosy little market with local French products and souvenirs, situated on the market place of Aubeterre, right in front of Hôtel de France.
Monday morning: the weekly market with stalls throughout the whole centre of Chalais (at 10 minutes from Aubeterre).
Friday morning: The market at Ribérac; one of the biggest in the area (at 20 minutes from Aubeterre),

where everybody gathers in the “Café des Colonnes”, the weekly meeting spot.

Golf in the area
For the golfers there are two beautiful 9-holes courses near Aubeterre. In addition the bigger cities of Angoulême en Périgueux have 18-hole courses.

A second, recently reopened 9-hole course is at 15 minutes distance from Aubeterre. Situated on the beautiful “Domaine de La Lande” (Servanches), with its own gourmet restaurant. The golf course surrounds a large lake, with a challenging par 3 hole with the green on a (tiny) island in the lake. (Information and reservation via Contact).

The Dronne…canoeing, fishing or a day at the beach
A trip by canoe on the small river the Dronne is especially recommended during the warm summer
days. Not only does the trip bring you past the most beautiful spots, a pick-nick in the countryside will make your day just perfect. And afterwards you can relax on the beach, where there are tennis courts, a playing ground, canoe and bicycle rental, a terrace

Wine/Cognac/Pineau Excursions
A visit to one of the many wine, pineau (the local aperitif!) or cognac producers should certainly be included during your stay. We can provide a full day excursion with transport, tour, and lunch. Minimum 6 participants, maximum 10. (Information and reservation via Contact).

Painting
Have you ever wished to follow lessons from a typically French artist painter? Now is your chance. Our local artist Didier Grare will ensure an artistic day, with lots of fun and a guaranteed end result! We can organise a day, or longer, including material and lunch.
